Summer is here!

Brooklyn's preschool program/graduation was a week and 1/2 ago. They got to dress like animals, because the program was animal themed. Brooklyn was so excited to dress up and sing!  I think that a preschool program is one of the funniest things I've ever seen!  During the songs, the teachers would take the microphone to each kid so that parents could hear their kids sing. It's so funny hearing little 4 and 5 year olds yelling the songs into the microphone! Then the teacher would get to Brooklyn and you could hear her teeny little sweet voice singing the song in tune the best she could, it was soooo adorable!  She has always loved to sing!  She was also the only kid taking a bow after each song. She loves her audience!  A week after her program was her last day of school picnic. Her class got to go to a park and play together at the playground and have a picnic with their parents and siblings. When I told her it was time to go and that she needed to go say bye to her teachers, she was broken-hearted! She cried when she hugged Mrs. Buonforte and Mrs. Brighton goodbye. She has such a tender little heart. She was especially sad to say bye to Landon, the boy she's going to marry when she's a grown-up. There were a couple times when I picked her up from preschool over the year that her and Landon were calling out their undying love to each other and making marriage promises.  Brooklyn also told me that she kissed him! When Brendon heard her say that, he looked at me with absolute fear in his eyes and said "Its started, and she's only four!"  Brooklyn also had Kindergarten assessment, and she blew the teacher away! She is so smart, and we are so proud of her!

The past couple of weeks Carson has been picking up words like crazy!  It's amazing how fast kids change at this age!  His favorite thing to do is be "angry". He stomps around the house shouting "I'm RIGHT HERE!"  I don't know what he's trying to accomplish, but he means business!  He also will call me and if I don't answer right away he will repeat "mommy" in different tones of voice until I answer. I've tried not answering him just to see how long he'll do it, and he doesn't give up easily!  He is so fun loving, and rambunctious! Brooklyn and him have been so cute playing together lately, but one of Carson's favorite words right now is "MINE!"  He thinks that everything is his, and he is very possessive, so there are lots of fights over toys in our house!  We'll walk past some kids in the store, or church, pretty much anywhere, and he'll yell at them "MINE" even though he doesn't have anything ... He even yelled "MY MOMMY" at the kids playing on the playground behind our backyard fence.  He is also becoming VERY independent. He has to climb into his high-chair all by himself, and if I help him sit down, he has to get down and do it all over again, with NO help!  Carson and Brooklyn are my comic relief every day, and I love it!  Until I had my own, I didn't know kids could be so funny!

Seven years ago today, Brendon and I were married for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple.  I can't believe how fast seven years can go by!  There's a saying that "time flies when you're having fun", well I'm going to be a little sappy and say "time flies when you're in love"!  Brendon is so amazing to me, he is such a hard worker for our little family, and such an AWESOME daddy, and he treats me like a queen.  He surprised me this morning with a Willow Tree figurine of a couple embracing, and a book of poems he wrote, one for each year we've know each other.  I fall more in love with him every day!

Well that's all for today, I hope everyone has a great Memorial Day! We'll probably be doing yard work, trying to catch up from all of the bad weather!

Ok so I haven't posted as regularly as I first wanted to, We've been busy!

Disneyland!!!

 We went to Disneyland as a family the first week of April. We had a blast! Brendon's parents came with us, and it was great to spend a whole week with them. It seems like we don't see much of them because of everybody's crazy schedules.  We left on Easter Sunday and drove to Vegas to spend the first night. We didn't tell Brooklyn that we were going to Disneyland until Sunday morning. She knew something was up, because we were packing all day Saturday and getting ready. It was fun to surprise her!

 

 This picture was taken after eating at Burger King in Cedar City, they were settled in for a long trip with the portable dvd player! I couldn't get Carson to look away from Blue's Clues long enough to take the picture, LOL!

 After our stop over in Vegas, we headed to Anaheim and did a little grocery shopping, settling into the hotel, etc.  The next day was our first day at Disneyland!!!

The first thing we did was get a picture with Mickey Mouse!!! 

After that, everytime we saw Mickey Mouse anywhere, even pictures, Dooder was yelling Mickey Mouse! Mickey Mouse! (sounded like Mee Mou! Mee Mou!) Our first day was kind of a let down, it was Utah's and California's spring break, so Disneyland was PACKED while we were there and the first day ended up with us just walking around, trying to figure out what ride was worth waiting in line for (our first ride was Peter Pan and we probably waited an hour just for that one, we tried to get a fast pass for Indiana Jones, we got it at 1pm, and it told us to come back between 11pm and midnight that night!).  The second and third day was much better, even though it was still very busy. Once we realized that there was no way we were going to get on every ride we tryed to take a more relaxed approach. This was our last day there and it was Carson's birthday, so he got a Birthday pin to wear that said he was two, and he got lots of Happy Birthdays from people!

 The second day, we took Brooklyn on the Haunted Mansion, and we felt really bad afterwards, Brendon and I didn't remember it being as scary as it was, so she plugged her ears and I covered her eyes the whole ride! We then made an even bigger mistake by taking her on Splash Mountain right after Haunted Mansion. Needless to say, she wasn't thrilled with us, and she was hesitant to get on anymore rides after that. Carson screamed on every ride, but he loved the Tiki Room, the Tarzan Tree House, and Small World.We thought he would love the Jungle Cruise, but he started crying every time the "tour guide" started talking, LOL!

Brooklyn dressed as Cinderella the first day and Snow white the third day, she loved dressing like a princess!

 Were were at Disneyland Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of that week. Friday on our way out of Anaheim, we stopped by Laguna Beach for a couple hours so the kids could play in the sand and see the ocean! We stayed in Vegas that night. One word of advice, NEVER leave Anaheim to head toward Vegas on a Friday! We didn't know when we left, but everyone and their dog leaves Southern California on Friday for Las Vegas for the weekends. It was stop and go traffic all the way to Barstow. And we were exhausted by the time we got to our hotel room. We returned home Saturday exhausted, sunburned, but glad we could go on such a fun trip as a family! We were disappointed to get home and realize that our much awaited trip was over. It went by really fast but we made some GREAT memories!!!

It had been awhile since we had a fun family night out, so Brendon and I decided to take the kids to Chucky Cheese. They had a blast and Mommy and Daddy Q had a blast watching the kids have so much fun!  We even had an appearance by Mr. Cheese himself, and Brooklyn's eyes were as big as saucers (Carson just wanted his food)... Lefferpecans

No... I'm not talking about a new hybrid of nut ... Brooklyn came home from school last week and was talking about a little animal they learned about in preschool that "likes to wear green" and "likes shiny things" ... Searching my brain, I asked her "do you mean Leprechauns?" and she replied "yeah, Lefferpecans"... Since then they have been called Leffercans, Lefferfecans and Lefferbecans .... Is it wrong that I haven't corrected her because I think it's soooo dang cute the way she says it???  I saved a couple shoe-boxes so we could make a Lefferpecan trap and told her we would try to catch one on St. Patricks Day... Well, she couldn't wait that long, she had traps set this morning and I decided Lefferpecans could visit her a day early.  While she was in watching TV with Carson they visited!

Dang! she didn't catch a Lefferpecan, but they left her some rainbow colored candy and stole her dime! Those tricky Lefferpecans!

Britney enters the blogging world!

Hey family and friends!

There are too many times when the kids say something cute, or funny, or I just want to shout to the world how amazing my husband is, so I decided to try my hand at blogging.  I'm hoping that I'll post pretty regularly.  

Yesterday I happened upon a link to a blog called Nie Nie Dialogues and was amazed at the courage and faith of this woman. Her name is Stephanie Nielson and she is LDS.  She and her husband, Christian, were in a private plane crash in August of 2008 near Page, AZ. Stephanie had burns covering 80% of her body and was in the ICU for several months, and she is still going through recovery.  I don't remember ever hearing about this happening, but I spent about an hour last night just reading posts from her blog. This morning I was thinking about it, and I thought "if she can do it, so can I".  So I guess you can say I was inspired.

Fun in the Spring Sun!

Brooklyn has been freaking out that it's Spring, so I thought I'd better take the munchkins outside on such a beautiful day!  I should have been inside doing laundry, but I just couldn't resist the sunshine! Here are some pictures of the kids having a blast.
